Burst Drains
A burst drain won’t wait, and left alone it can undermine paths, walls and foundations fast. We prioritise burst-drain call-outs and aim to have someone on site the same day.
Once on site, we contain the fault, run a camera down the line to confirm the extent of the damage, and repair or replace the affected section — then re-survey to confirm it’s holding.
- Ground movement
- Root ingress
- Age & corrosion
Root Removal
Tree and shrub roots find their way into drains through the smallest joint or crack, and once inside they grow fast enough to block a line within a season.
We clear the ingress with high-pressure jetting or mechanical cutting depending on severity, then survey the line again to confirm it’s fully clear and check for the joint or crack that let the roots in.
- High-pressure water jetting
- Mechanical root cutting
- Post-clear CCTV survey
Cast Iron Repairs
Edinburgh’s tenements and townhouses run largely on cast iron drainage, much of it original. Cast iron doesn’t fail all at once — it corrodes, cracks and shifts at joints over years.
We repair sections in place where possible using relining or joint repair, and replace with modern materials where the pipe run is too far gone — matched to the property so factors and conservation-sensitive buildings aren’t caught out.
- Section replacement
- Pipe relining
- Joint & collar repair
Burst Pipes
A burst supply or waste pipe can do more damage in an hour than a slow drain fault does in months. We isolate the fault first to stop water damage spreading, then repair.
Covers both indoor pipework and underground supply and waste runs, with the same camera-survey standard applied wherever the pipe is buried or hidden.
- Same-day isolation
- Indoor & underground
- Water damage limited
Communal Drains
Shared drainage across flats and closes is where jobs get complicated — not by the repair itself, but by working out who’s responsible and getting clear evidence everyone can agree on.
We diagnose the fault, identify whether it sits on a private or shared section of the line, and provide a written report you can pass directly to factors, owner associations or neighbours to agree cost-splitting.
- Written fault report
- Cost-split breakdown
- Frost damage
